Oatmeal Scones

Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 cups quick oats, uncooked (or 1 1/2 c. old fashioned oats)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins or 1/2 cup currants

Directions

  • 1 In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients: flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, cream of tarter and salt.
  • 2 In a small bowl, combine wet ingredients: butter,milk and egg,
  • 3 Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix, only until moist.
  • 4 Add raisins (or currents).
  • 5 Shape into a ball.
  • 6 Pat out on a lightly floured board into an 8 inch circle.
  • 7 Cut into 8-12 wedges.
  • 8 Bake on a greased cookie sheet in a 425 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until brown.
