Gingered Figs

Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 20 dried figs
  • 1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1 tablespoon light molasses
  • 2 teaspoons powdered ginger
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

  • 1 Place figs and water in saucepan.
  • 2 Bring to hard boil, then lower heat and simmer.
  • 3 Cover figs and cook for 20 minutes.
  • 4 Add molasses, ginger and sugar.
  • 5 Stir gently in order to avoid breaking figs.
  • 6 Simmer for 15 minutes more or until figs are plumped and tender.
  • 7 Wonderful with meat or on their own!
  • 8 Makes 5 to 6 servings.
